Do your best work, by the river

At River's Edge we prioritize fun, support, and a life of balance — practitioners build schedules that work for them, with the flexibility to take the time off they need.

Balance, built in

Create a schedule that works for you, with the flexibility to take as much time off as you need. Quality over quantity — for our clients and our team.

Grow alongside us

As River's Edge grows, we want our team growing right alongside — personally, professionally, and creatively. New services and modalities are always welcome.

A view worth the commute

Work with a view of the beautiful Animas River, right in downtown Durango — with the perk of an easy, stress-free commute.

Why River's Edge

One roof, every discipline

Medical oversight

Clinical services run under the direction of Ashley Sutton, FNP-MSN — spa comfort with medical standards behind it.

East meets West

Day spa, medspa, Western medicine, and Eastern medicine under one roof — your plan can draw from all four.

On the Animas

Every visit ends riverside — linger in the River Room or on the rooftop instead of rushing back to the car.

Make It a Ritual

Members come back monthly

The Riverside, The Headwaters, and The Confluence turn one-off treatments into a standing ritual — with member pricing across the spa.

Where to Start

Not sure? Start with a consultation

Consultations are $50, credited toward your treatment — an honest conversation about your goals, what will work, and what won't.

Life at the River

Why practitioners stay

A full house

Spa, medspa, and medical clients under one roof means a steady book and room to grow your specialty instead of hustling for it.

Cross-discipline team

Work beside injectors, acupuncturists, therapists, and stylists — refer across the hall, learn across disciplines.

Durango living

Work on the river, live in the San Juans — trails, snow, and water minutes from the treatment room.

Open Roles

Positions we're always hiring for

Tap a role to read what it actually involves. Weekly openings vary by position. And if you offer something River's Edge doesn't provide yet — we're always open to new services and modalities. Apply anyway.

Pay range$35 – $60 a yearCommission

Eastern medicine is not a side offering here — it sits in the same building, and often the same treatment plan, as labs, imaging referrals, and hormone care. Practitioners tell us the cross-referral is the part they did not expect.

The work
Acupuncture, dry needling, moxibustion, cupping, and gua sha
Herbal consultation and dispensing, if that is part of your practice
Collaborative planning with our NP and massage team
Longer initial visits — 75 minutes — because the intake actually matters
What we need
Colorado acupuncture license (L.Ac.) and NCCAOM certification
Clean-needle technique certification and current liability insurance
Willingness to explain your reasoning to a Western-trained colleague, and to hear theirs
Pay range$16 – $18 an hourHourly

The honest pitch: this role shapes how a visit feels more than any single treatment does. A guest who was greeted well and whose booking was handled properly arrives at their appointment already relaxed. One who was not, does not.

The work
Booking, rescheduling, and the daily puzzle of a full treatment board in Boulevard
Greeting, checking in, and reading when someone wants conversation and when they want quiet
Retail, gift cards, memberships, and the River Room
Opening or closing the building, depending on shift
What we need
No license required — this is a role we train fully
Genuine warmth that does not run out at 4pm
Discretion. You will know who is in the building and why, and that stays here.
Comfort with software; if Boulevard is new to you, that is fine
Pay range$30 – $45 an hourHourly + Commission

This role can sit entirely on the spa side, entirely on the medical side, or straddle both — which is unusual and is genuinely the reason people take it. Facials in the morning, laser under supervision in the afternoon, if that is what you want to build.

The work
HydraFacial, dermaplaning, chemical peels, LED, and our signature facials
Medspa scope under Ashley Sutton, FNP-MSN — IPL, laser hair removal, carbon facials
Retail conversation as education, never as a quota
Room prep and sanitation to medical standard, because the same rooms are used clinically
What we need
Current Colorado esthetician license
Medical esthetics experience is welcome but not required — we train, and we would rather train carefully than inherit bad habits
Honesty about what a treatment will and will not do for a client’s skin
Pay range$40 – $70 a yearCommission

You get a room that stays yours through your shift, a table that is properly maintained, and a front desk that protects your turnaround time. Laundry, product, and booking are handled — you do bodywork.

The work
Swedish, deep tissue, sports, prenatal, and hot stone — bring your strengths rather than all of them
Cross-training available and paid in cupping, lymphatic drainage, and cranial sacral
Treatment notes in Boulevard; no paper charting
Part-time and full-time both work — several of our therapists build around another practice
What we need
Current Colorado massage therapy license and liability insurance
Comfort with a clinical intake — we ask real health questions before hands go on anyone
You are willing to say a treatment is not appropriate today, and mean it
Pay range$25 – $28 an hourHourly + Commission

This one is a real invitation, not a placeholder. Several of the services in this building exist because a practitioner walked in and made a case for them.

What we are curious about
Physical therapy, chiropractic, or pelvic floor work
Nutrition counselling — we are actively building this
Sound therapy, breathwork, somatic practice
Anything with a defensible evidence base and a practitioner who will not overclaim
How to pitch it
Tell us what it is, who it helps, and what it needs from the space
Be straight about the evidence, including where it is thin
Room-share, contract, and employed arrangements are all possible
